This will enable them to continue legal operations in the Netherlands from 1 October 2026 through to 30 September 2031. 

It is the first time since the market was launched in 2021 that licences have come up for renewal and whomever is on the final list will indicate how many operators have decided not to remain in the market.

The initial 2021 licences are set to expire at the end of September 2026. All licence holders were required to submit applications for the subsequent five-year period, covering 2026 to 2031.

Wazdan bolsters its executive team with hiring spree

The global slots supplier Wazdan has undertaken a major shuffle in its executive team, with a number of high-profile hires and promotions adding a wealth of experience to the provider’s workforce. On a senior level, Tomasz Tajeldin has been brought in as a senior CRM specialist, Lukasz Kasprzyk has joined as Head of Operations, while Andrzej Hyla has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer.

In his new role, Tajeldin will be responsible for driving Wazdan’s campaigns and planning strategy across game rollouts, bringing more than six years of iGaming experience to the supplier. Tajeldin will also take control of Wazdan’s promotional activity, centred around the supplier’s Cash Drop promotional tool.

The operator was also investigating the roles of the same trust firm in relation to Qbet and Skyhills, indicating further legal proceedings may be forthcoming once corporate structures are clarified.

The crackdown on illegal gambling sites coincided with a broader policy debate in The Hague. The Dutch House of Representatives is set to discuss gambling regulation reforms this week. 

Nederlandse Loterij has welcomed government proposals aimed at expanding the Gambling Authority’s powers to combat illegal operators but has cautioned that comprehensive legislative changes could take years to become effective.
